Temple hollowing is a loss of volume in the tempral area, resulting in an aged and "skeletonized" appearance. This multicenter, controlled study evaluated the safety and efficacy of hyaluronic acid in correcting this aesthetic problem.

How was the study conducted?

  • 171 participants with moderate or severe sunken temples were included.

  • They were divided into two groups: treatment with hyaluronic acid or no treatment (control group).

  • Follow-up lasted for 13 months .

Key results were that at 3 months, 80% of those receiving this treatment showed significant improvement, compared to 13% of the untreated group. The effects lasted for more than a year . The vast majority of patients reported a high level of satisfaction:

  • 91% were satisfied or very satisfied with the overall result.

  • 89% perceived a natural appearance in the treated area.

  • 98% would recommend the procedure.

Safety: The treatment was well tolerated, and the most common side effects were mild, such as injection site pain, tenderness, and redness, most of which resolved within a maximum of one week. Some patients experienced transient jaw or headache pain, and no serious complications were reported.

The study's findings demonstrated that hyaluronic acid is a safe and effective option for restoring volume to the temples, offering immediate and long-lasting results with a high level of satisfaction.

Why is it important? This minimally invasive treatment allows for rejuvenation of the facial contour without surgery and with low risk, restoring harmony and freshness to the face.
