When we think of Botox, we tend to believe that the results
depend on the product, dosage, or dilution. But a recent study published in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (Li et al., 2024) found that how it is applied can also make a difference.
What did they compare?
Two common techniques were analyzed:
Retrograde linear injection : injection is made while the needle is withdrawn in a continuous line.
Point injection : small doses applied to specific sites.
Twenty-eight patients underwent both techniques, one on each side of the face, to directly compare the results.
The results obtained were quite interesting:
On the Forehead : the linear technique was more effective in smoothing wrinkles at one week and one month.
Between the eyebrows : better results were also seen with the linear technique after one week.
For crow's feet (eye area) : in this case, the dot technique was more effective after a week.
Furthermore, there was no difference in pain or muscle activity between the two techniques.

What does this mean to you?
This confirms that the Botox application technique can influence the results , depending on the area being treated.
For the forehead and between the eyebrows: the linear technique could give a more even finish.
For lines around the eyes: the dot technique seems to work best.
So if you're thinking about getting Botox, don't hesitate to ask me what technique I use and why. Sometimes, a small detail can make a big difference .
